Meal planning
How to share your daily meal plan as a PDF
In Liftor, open Today’s Plan, go to Nutrition and tap the share icon. Send the PDF through an available sharing app; the recipient needs a PDF viewer, not Liftor.
How do you send a meal-plan PDF from your iPhone?
- Open Today’s Plan in Liftor.
- Go to Nutrition and check the selected date and meals.
- Tap the share icon in the Nutrition summary.
- Choose an available destination in the iOS share sheet, then the intended recipient.
- Check the person and add the date the plan is for before sending.
WhatsApp can appear if it is installed and available in your share sheet. Other options depend on your phone. The attachment is a readable copy of the plan; the recipient does not need a Liftor account. If their messaging app does not preview it, they can open it in a PDF viewer.
What is included in the daily meal-plan PDF?
The PDF includes your name, the plan’s date, meal names, available ingredient quantities, calories and protein. It gives whoever cooks a list of what each meal contains. Full cooking instructions and a shopping list are not bundled into this daily PDF.
If someone needs cooking instructions, use Generate Recipein the app’s Nutrition view and give them those instructions separately. If they are buying ingredients, share the shopping-list PDF as well. Check that the exported plan has the ingredient detail they need; a meal name or calorie total alone is not a recipe.
How do you share the shopping list?
In Nutrition, tap the shopping-cart icon, choose Today, This Week or This Month, then tap Share as PDF. Today uses the selected day’s meals; Week combines the seven-day base plan, and Month scales it to thirty days.
The shopping PDF lists ingredients and amounts. Items you have ticked as already at home remain visible as checked items, so the recipient sees the whole list. Tell them which ingredients are already available and which still need buying. Send the meal plan and shopping list as clearly named attachments.
What does the person cooking need to know?
Ingredients and quantities answer “what goes into this meal?” Cooking instructions answer “how do I make it?” Confirm that the cook has both when needed, then clarify the details that a file can leave open:
- Which date and meals the plan covers.
- Who the listed portions are for.
- Whether a weight is raw or cooked when the document does not say.
- What is already at home and what needs buying.
- Any allergies, dietary restrictions or substitutions to confirm before cooking.
Ask about missing details directly rather than inferring portions or ingredients from calorie totals.
What message should you send with the PDF?
Use a short message that names the date, portions and any change from the previous copy:
Here is my meal plan for [date]. Please use the portions listed for [person]. We already have [ingredients]. Let me know before substituting [items]. This replaces the plan I sent on [date/time].
Keep only the fields that apply. If you provide cooking instructions or a shopping list separately, say which attachment or message contains each one.
Will a shared PDF update when the meal plan changes?
No. The PDF is a snapshot. Changing the plan in Liftor does not update an attachment you already sent. Export again and send the replacement when a meal or quantity changes.
Name the change: “Updated dinner quantity; please use this copy.” If shopping has already started, confirm that the change is practical before assuming the new version can be followed. The date and replacement note make it easier to tell which file is current.
What should you check before sending?
Check the recipient and destination, especially when the share sheet suggests recent conversations. A family group shares the document with everyone in that group. The PDF contains your name and meal information, including calories and protein.
For a cooking handoff, send the relevant meal document. If you want to show the feature publicly, use clearly labelled demonstration data without identifying details.
Quick answers about sharing a meal plan
Can I send it on WhatsApp? Yes, when WhatsApp is available in your iPhone’s share sheet. Liftor creates the PDF; the sharing app handles the recipient and message.
Does the recipient need Liftor? No. They need a way to open the PDF.
Does it include full recipes and a shopping list? No. Generate full recipes in the app and share the shopping-list PDF separately.
Does an older attachment update? No. Export and send a new copy, and name the version it replaces.
Try the handoff with your next meal plan
Start with one day. Share the meal-plan PDF, add cooking instructions or the shopping list when needed, and confirm the recipient has enough detail to prepare the meals. Get Liftor on the App Store.
For the broader workflow, read how Liftor plans your day. To record meals you eat outside that plan, see voice food logging on iPhone.
